Birmingham manager Alex McLeish says that he would love to see midfielder Sebastian Larsson stay at St Andrews.

But talks are still underway with the Swedish international, but as yet there has been no agreement between the two parties, if something cannot be worked out then Larsson would be able to leave on a Bosman at the end of the season.

The 25 year old has been with Birmingham since 2006 when he arrived from Arsenal and he has been a starter in all Blues Premier league games so far this term.

‘We spoke to Seb’s people again a couple of weeks ago and we were then waiting on Peter Pannu coming back from China which he has now done and he was going to take it up from there, so that’s the latest,’McLeish told the club’s official website.

‘Seb becomes a Bosman so we have to think about that and it’s now up to the club and Seb’s people to try and agree something.

‘But I’m philosophical about these sorts of things and I don’t lose sleep over them.

‘I wouldn’t like to lose Seb because he’s been a valuable player for us and he has had a good season, but there are players the world over that could come in and allow us to keep the quality up and the standard up.

‘But you don’t want to lose players that you trust.’
