There is a little snippet in the Guardian today that links Birmingham manager Alex McLeish with a move to bring in James McArthur.

The player`s agent has said that there are several clubs ready to launch a bid to sign the midfielder and he expects Birmingham City to be one of them.

Wigan, Rangers, Cardiff and Leeds have all been linked with a move for the 22-year old and Willie McKay expects a bid from McLeish very soon.

“There are a lot of British clubs interested in him as well as a few foreign clubs,” McKay said.

“Birmingham boss Alex McLeish watched him against Rangers last season and he was outstanding.

“He scored a great goal and ran right through their midfield – and Rangers have a good midfield. If you consider Barry Ferguson went down to Birmingham and did so well, it`s a no-brainer about whether they would want to sign James.”
