Olivier Kapo could soon be on his way out of St Andrews after being told by boss Alex McLeish that he can leave.

And there is talk of the player heading to Wigan after McLeish hinted that talks had been opened with the Premier League club.

Kapo has made no secret of his desire to leave St Andrews after the club was relegated to the Championship last season and he even rolled up for pre season training late.

And McLeish is not going to fight to keep the player with Blues.

“I`d rather leave the administration side to Karren Brady and David Sullivan,” McLeish told the Birmingham Mail.

“If I can help in any way as go-between, then of course I will do my bit for the club.

“I gather there has been some kind of to-ing and fro-ing, but nothing concrete as yet.

“Kapo would like to move on, so I`m not going to stand in his way.

“The other players are in my plans and we will go ahead, go forward with them. Kapo is not in those plans so it`s better he moves on.”
