Blues manager Alex McLeish was not happy about the way his side started the game against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last night, pointing out that his side had learnt nothing from the same game last season.
Even so, the Blues boss saw enough from his side to suggest that they might be able to get out of relegation trouble.
He told the Press Association: ‘Shocking start. We did the same thing here last season and gave ourselves a mountain to climb. But we hung in there and never gave up.’
But even though City did enough in the second half to pull a goal back, although there were aspects of the goal that he would not mind talking to his players about when an argument broke out as to who was to take the spot kick that Matt Derbyshire won.
McLeish added: ‘It’s not normally something I’d encourage.
‘When a player has been successful in scoring the penalties, as Craig has done, he should keep it.
‘I’m sure they’ll have a wee chat about it over the next few days.’
And on beating the drop McLeish said: ‘I would say we need another win. We’ll try and get as many points in the last five games as we can.’
