Birmingham City manager Alex McLeish saw his side give away a seven game unbeaten run in the dying seconds of the game with Preston North End on Saturday and admitted that they must do better.

Fat striker Jon Parkin scored in the dying seconds to leave Blues with nothing and allow Wolves to stretch their lead at the top of the table to six points.

McLeish said: ‘I think we can do better than that. We must do better than that.

‘It’s half the season gone and it would have been nice to finish on 50 points, but we knew it was going to be tough at Deepdale.

‘The disappointing thing was not getting at least a point, but we can do better. We have got to do better in the second half of the season.

‘It was disappointing to lose at the end. We have done it to other teams as well so I know how it feels.

‘It looked like we had a slice of the cake, but there were late mistakes. It gave them an opening and, one against one in the box, Liam Ridgewell has mistimed his jump and the big fella had an easy tap in.

‘I am disappointed. We had maybe one very
good chance in the second half. Instead of getting the share of it we are obviously disappointed to lose.’
