After Stephen Pearson turned down a loan move to Birmingham City, his agent Willie McKay has spoken about why the snub came.

The Scotland international looked set for a move to St Andrews on a permanent basis until a medical showed the player had a groin problem.

So Blues pulled out of a permanent deal but offered to take the 25 year old on loan.

However, after thinking over the offer, Pearson has decided to snub the opportunity to move to St Andrews on a temporary basis.

McKay admitted Pearson was disappointed to see the move to Birmingham fall through and that he was now considering other options.

‘Stephen has turned down the chance to move to Birmingham on loan,’ McKay told Skysports.

‘He would have been happy to go if it was a permanent transfer, but he just thinks a loan move is not right at this moment.

‘Everything was agreed for a permanent transfer until a small problem with his groin showed up on his medical and Birmingham decided they would prefer a loan deal.

‘Stephen would have liked to have linked up again with Alex McLeish, but the loan did not suit.

‘Stephen will be back fit in a couple of weeks and he hopes to find himself a new club.

‘There are a couple of Premier League clubs watching his situation.’
