Birmingham City have ruled out signing Bournemouth winger Max Gradel.

Gianfranco Zola did make an enquiry for the 29-year-old but didn’t pursue it. And yesterday it emerged that Watford had a £4m bid for the player rejected.

Zola is keen to add an attacking player to his squad, and is even considering a defender, before the transfer window slams shut on Tuesday night.

Having already made five signings this month, Zola will have to plan his next move wisely and within financial parameters.
