Birmingham City’s last game of the 2015 pre-season was against Leicester City.

Two fabulous solo goals from Cotterill and Gray put the home side up 2-0 and they were looking good for the lead.

Cotterill’s goal was from a free-kick outside the area that clattered the underside of the bar before bouncing into the goal. Gray’s was a remarkable effort from out wide, well outside the box which both fizzed and curled before settling into the net.

Neat exchanges in the opening half was not conveyed into the second period. Slack defending was the main cause of concern for Rowett as he has said in an interview with the official site.

Two goals were conceded from set pieces which I’m sure will be a real disappointment for Gary Rowett and his coaching team because pre-season is all about eradicating such errors. He told the official site in the interview mentioned above that these errors should not be happening.

The third goal came late on in the match and this also shows a lack of concentration and focus in order to see the game out. As a manager, I would be very disappointed to see somebody allowed a free header within close proximity of the goal.
