Considering the lack of movement in terms of signing midfielders this summer, I thought I would add a name into the mix who could add more goals and assists to our team.

Harry Wilson’s seven goals and four assists in just 14 matches for Hull last campaign was seriously impressive, and with our lack of options out wide beyond Maghoma, Jota and Solomon-Otabor, the Welsh international looks like an interesting potential signing.

However, it seems that despite 12 Championship clubs being interested in signing the 21-year-old on loan this summer, we are not one of them. Far be it for me to question Garry Monk, I decided to ask supporters whether our manager should perhaps consider a bid for the winger.

As you can see in the poll results, a significant portion of fans think we should be one of the teams pursuing Wilson:

I know it’s very easy to play Football Manager when you are sitting at home, but for me, there is a very low risk and very high reward for bringing in Wilson on loan. He won’t be on high wages, he’s already proven in the Championship after last season’s exploits for the Tigers, and could add much-needed goals from midfield. Is Monk right not to go after him? Let me know in the comments.

  • we don’t want loans …the supporters don’t want loans ….if that’s the plan then lets go with our own young players /brammall never worked boga never worked ..give our own youth a chance please

  • Not as a loan maybe bid for him out right. But we have our own youngsters and who’s to say none of them can’t do that for us. Monk himself has said he wants players who will play for the shirt and willing to push the club forward and loans do not fit the bill they don’t care if Birmingham push forward or not they only care about how they look on the pitch and what opportunities it will give to them. Trusting monk he knows what he’s doing.

  • No we need a goalkeeper, a creative midfielder and a goalscorer. Let’s get those in. I agree with the above poster I’d rather see our own players than loans.

  • We saw from last season’s influx of loan players, they don’t really work for us.
And why bring another teams players on, be them fringe players or youngsters, we’ve got our own ones to improve.
That’s certainly what Garry Monk appears to be doing with the youngsters and fringe players he’s took to Austria.
Yes, we need fresh faces to arrive, a team does every new season, and I’m sure Garry Monk knows that, and will bring em in.
I’m more than confident we’ll have the required amount ready to go when the new season starts.
The one encouraging thing to come out of the situation so far, is that it appears we have money to spend, and Monk seems more than happy to spend it, but on the right players.
Be patient fellow Blues, he’ll get it right, of that I’m CONVINCED.
Looking forward to a very existing, and successful new season.
