The friendly game between Mansfield Town and Birmingham City was called off yesterday amid public safety concerns.

Nottinghamshire Police produced a late risk assessment that would increase the game to a grade C game. This meant thousands of pounds worth of extra man power would be at the cost of the two clubs.

Both clubs expressed their disappointment with the timing of the decision and have offered full refunds to their supporters.

Many Blues fans will now have to alter their plans for this weekend as many were gearing up for the trip to Mansfield. The police up there said they have intelligence that meant they were expecting trouble, although no details have been released.

Lee Clark will be disappointed as the team now lose a valuable fixture where Blues had planned to implement a more competitive game plan in preparation for the new season; just three weeks away.

Birmingham will now host an intra-squad game to try and get some more minutes under their belts. Blues take on Kidderminster Harriers a week today.

To get hold of your refund you must take the tickets back to the ticket office or send them in via post, do check the site for opening times and requirements.
