Blues new attacking forward speaks to

Birmingham City signing Jacques Maghoma has revealed it was the lure of Gary Rowett that brought him to the club.

Maghoma and Rowett were together from 2009-2013 at Burton, where the Blues manager was assistant boss before taking the main job himself.

The player credits that spell under Rowett as a time where he took his game to another level. This seems to very much fit in with what we have already seen from Rowett at Birmingham, he is able to take players that seem ordinary or low in themselves and brighten them up to consistent solid performers.

It is clear to see from the interview that it is the manager who is the key part to the belief in the team.

“Hopefully he can carry on the good work and I can bring something to the table and help this great club achieve good things.”

Vital Birmingham credits the author and owner of this work as Birmingham City Football Club

  • He’s started by saying all the right things, now lets see what he can do with the ball at his feet.

  • Are there any players with a bad word to say about Rowett? I haven’t seen one, the guy works wonders!

  • I’m looking forward to seeing this guy in action, if he can get back in the goals could be a threat!

  • IKMTB is correct! He is saying all the right things and he sounds very positive! I am very much looking forward to watching him play in a blues shirt and hopefully he is right when he says that we can push for playoffs this year

  • With a full pre-season under his belt, he will be raring to go. I just fear that his goalscoring record is a bit low.
