Following what has been a pretty difficult week for Birmingham City fans, finally there has been some good news announced by the club.

On loan Burnley striker Lukas Jutkiewicz has today signed for the club in a deal believed to be worth around the £1 million mark and is three-and-a-half years in length with another years option.

The forward has made an impressive start to his career at St.Andrew’s, scoring six goals in 17 appearances for the club, something most fans in football wouldn’t believe considering his last club goal before he came to Blues was against us on the final day of the 2013/14 season.

Now that he has signed for the club I am pretty sure that Gianfranco Zola will be telling him one thing and one thing only. The words that spring to mind are ‘you are going to be my main striker and I need you to continue scoring important goals for us.’

And that is exactly what I think the big striker will do for the club. Jutkiewicz becomes the third player that Blues have signed in a year to be £1 million+ which is surely a good sign.

A round of applause needs to be thrown in the direction of the beloved Gary Rowett who no doubt had this deal set up all the way for Zola to complete but nonetheless, he is now Zola’s player and I think he will become the focal point in the squad and Blues will now adapt to a certain style of play that involves him a lot more.

In Saturday’s game against Brighton and Hove Albion, Jutkiewicz gave Zola’s men the lead and it was one of only a select few headers that he actually won but if I was Zola I wouldn’t care how many he won outside the box, just as long as he keeps scoring, I don’t really care.

And should Blues keep providing him with the service that he desires that I have no qualms in thinking he may even reach the 15 goal mark this season, something which the club will desperately need if they want to make it into the play-offs.

The little Italian manager hasn’t waited about to get his feet under the table and with less than two weeks until the January transfer window opens, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a few more names linked with the club.

Blues fans, do you believe that signing Lukas Jutkiewicz is a good deal done by the club? Let us know in the comment section down below!
