Peter Lovenkrands has decided to call time on his 16 year career after leaving Birmingham without a contract this summer.

Like some others of the players shipped out in the summer, it seems Lovenkrands has been unable to find a club that is the right fit for him at this stage in his career.

The Dane announced his retirement via his own Twitter account.

‘Today i Announce my retirement as a football player, I am proud of all the things I have achieved in my career!

Making history with my goals for Rangers in the Champions League League Titles Last minute Cup Winner in the Old firm, Schalke04’s players player of the season, and Helping get Newcastle back in the Premier League was amazing and playing for my Country in a World Cup & European Championship,
