Loan watch: Stockdale Shows Form

|

David Stockdale was the star of the Blues loanees this week with two fine performances for Wycombe Wanderers to earn results against Shrewsbury Town and Accrington Stanley.

His 7-day loan was promptly ended despite both Gareth Ainsworth and Stockdale wanting renew the loan, leading to Stockdale admitting his frustration on social media. That caused a bit of a stir.

Two Blues players have found the net in the past two weeks, Greg Stewart finding the net in the 90th minute of Kilmarnock’s 3-0 victory over Hibernian while Steve Seddon scored his third goal of the season in Stevenage’s impressive 3-2 win over title-chasing MK Dons.

Luke Maxwell started for Solihull Moors in 0-0 draws against Salford City and Blackpool, the latter potentially helping the minnows earn a giant home tie against Arsenal in the FA Cup Third Round. Corey O’Keeffe got an appearance late on in the latter but both have struggled for regular starting berths this term.

Two more youngsters have played league fixtures in the National League South, Odin Bailey playing 57 minutes in Gloucester City’s 2-0 defeat at Chelmsford City while Jake Weaver saw three goals fly past him during Hungerford Town’s 3-1 loss at Welling United.

Moving abroad, Cheick N’Doye has completed 90 minutes in each of Angers’ three games since the international break, each game ending in a draw. Cheick Keita didn’t feature in either of Eupen’s previous two league fixture.

Jonathan Grounds returned to the Bolton Wanderers squad for their 1-0 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday but hasn’t played for The Trotters in over two months.

Would you like to see any of our loanees return to first-team action soon?
