The list of Blues players out on loan has been extended since the last loanee round up with Striker Lee Novak heading out to League 1 side Chesterfield. He joined David Edgar (Sheffield United) Mark Duffy (Burton), Denny Johnstone (Morton) and Nick Townsend (Barnsley) at there respective loan clubs.

Firstly, Lee Novak, who many fans would have been disappointed to hear of his departure, he was involved in Chesterfields 2-0 loss to David Edgar’s Sheffield United, Novak made put in a decent performance whilst playing a full 90 minutes. He then followed that up with another bustling display in his first Chesterfield win, he helped his side to a 2-1 victory away at Shrewsbury with an assist for the winner on Tuesday night. All in all, a good first week for the Blues striker.

David Edgar made his League debut on Saturday, as mentioned previously, his side Sheffield United ran out winners against Novak and his Chesterfield teammates, Novak and Edgar competed well against each other with Edgar ending up as the winner of the Blues battle. Edgar’s side then followed that up with yet another impressive win, they beat Peterborough 3-1 at London road, a result many teams in that division will manage to replicate.

Mark Duffy is another player to have started two matches over the last week. His Burton Albion side were edged out by Nick Townsend’s Barnsley, Duffy played the full ninety minutes for his side as Townsend was an unused substitute. Duffy then tasted success on the road in Tuesday nights 2-1 win away at Blackpool. Duffy completed another ninety minutes and has helped his side to sixth in the table from the first six games.

Scottish Striker has had a quite week as he has made just one appearance, that of which a 1-0 loss in front of 9000 fans at Hibernians Easter Road. Johnstone’s Morton side put in a good performance against one of the league favourites. Johnstone’s side face St Mirren tonight and the 20 year old Striker will be looking to break his League duck this season.

Goalkeeper Nick Townsend has been the quietest of the lot, after his heroics in last weeks cup tie at Scunthorpe, Townsend has twice been an unused substitute as Barnsley managed to beat Burton Albion 1-0 and Millwall 3-2 at The Den. Townsend looks set to be restricted to his annual cup match, that of which he will face his toughest opposition of his career so far,if selected, his performance will be reviewed in next weeks article of Loan Watch.
