This weeks fixtures signalled the debuts for all four Blues players who have been sent out on loan by manager Gary Rowett. Denny Johnstone (Morton), Mark Duffy (Burton), David Edgar (Sheffield United) and Nick Townsend (Barnsley) have all endured a fairly successful starts to there lives as loanees.

Firstly, twenty year old striker Denny Johnstone started a week earlier than everyone else, he helped his side kick off the season with a 5-0 win at home to Elgin City. Johnstone found the net on his debut, helping his side progress to the second round of the Scottish League cup. He then started once again for Morton in there opening league match of the season, although Johnstone failed to score, he put in a very solid performance in his sides 1-1 draw with Falkirk.

Mark Duffy made his Burton Albion debut in his sides 2-1 win at home to Scunthorpe on Saturday, Duffy impressed during pre season and rightfully earn’t a starting spot for the League 1 side. Duffy was an unused substitute for Burtons cup win at Bolton last night, midfielder Matty Palmer scored the winning goal to give his side a 1-0 win. Ex Blues midfielder Callum Reilly was also involved in the astonishing cup win.

David Edgar only signed for his new club Sheffield United earlier on in the week and made his debut in a 1-0 away win at Morecambe. Many fans would have been disappointed to see the Canadian international go out on loan as it looks Edgar may have made his last appearance for the club. Edgar did impress many early on last season but now it seems he is deemed surplus to requirements by Gary Rowett.

Nick Townsend put in a fine performance for his Barnsley side in there 1-1(7-6) penalty shout out win against Scunthorpe last night. Townsend made some excellent saves keeping Barnsley in the cup. After being left out for Saturdays loss at Chesterfield, Townsend has proved that he is capable of performing at League 1/2 level with his brilliant performance last night.
