Liverpool wonderkid would be a great loan signing for Blues

Earlier today (July 31st), Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp told the press that he was unsure whether to loan youngster Sheji Ojo out once again this season.

Following his sides 2-0 win over AC Milan, Klopp admitted that Ojo certainly had a future with the Reds but he was unsure as to whether next season would be best served away from the club.

The former Borussia Dortmund manager is right to ponder to the move with a month still to go in the transfer window but if he did decide to let him leave on a short term basis, I think Birmingham City would be stupid if they didn’t try and bring him in.

Blues have been crying out for a creative winger with pace and although Jacques Maghoma can be unplayable on his day, at the moment, those days don’t come around all too often and I personally think Ojo would be a great addition to our current squad.

At 19, Ojo is one of the most promising young players in England’s top flight but with chances few and far between for him, a move back into the Sky Bet Championship looks even more likely.

Last season, Ojo played 19 times for Blues’ Midlands rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers, scoring three times, including a lovely strike into the bottom left corner at St.Andrews in a 2-0 win for Kenny Jackett’s side.

The flare that Ojo has is something that Blues lack out wide and despite David Cotterill being our biggest goal threat on the wing, he didn’t score as many as he should have last year. Yes he was injured, but that doesn’t matter.

Personally, I think if the Liverpool teenager came to Blues, he would be ahead of Blues’ young winger Viv Solomon-Otabor but then again, what is wrong with a little bit of healthy competition.
