Lingard is Back

Jesse Lingard is set to return to the squad this week, giving Birmingham a much needed boost. The boy is a talented player, one a squad the size of ours can’t afford to have missing.

The young star was sent back to parent club Manchester United for treatment on his injured knee. The injury was picked up in a heavy challenge against Leeds United in October.

I can’t really blame United for wanting to treat him themselves, a regular practise of the bigger clubs for even small injuries. The fact that they have sent him back would suggest he is ready to get involved right from the off.

Blues travel to Huddersfield town this Saturday and it could be said that Lingard will be involved. Make no mistake about it, this game is going to be an incredibly big ask for us to go and even get a point.

Huddersfield are strong at home and even if they don’t take all three points, I imagine they will definitely get one. I’ll throw in a positive, we’re normally better away from St Andrews under Clark.

The extension on his loan deal expires on the 14th December, a date Blues boss Lee Clark will be dreading. Ignoring the fact he is a good player, being another number down is something I find distressing as it is.

There is a two week international break following this Saturday’s game. This fact makes it really important that we put at least a point on the board, two weeks to fester on the events on the past few games is not on anyone’s wish list.

With Blues performing terribly last time out against Charlton, Clark will be hoping Lingard can provide the shot in the arm the team needs.
