Birmingham chairman David Gold is not going to let Sebastian Larsson leave St Andrews after the club was relegated to the Championship.

That relegation left Blues with a fight to keep their best players and Larsson is one of those players that Gold is not prepared to part with.

Newcastle and Blackburn have been strongly linked with a move for the Swedish international after his impressive performances last season.

And Birmingham boss Alex McLeish wants Larsson in his side this season as he plans to take Blues back up at the first time of asking.

‘Seb will leave over my dead body. He’s vital to us,’ Gold told The Sun.
