Sebastian Larsson has spoken to the press following his winner against the Shrews in the Carling Cup an he’s happy just playing a part.

The versatile player started out at right back, then moved to right wing and ended up finishing the match on the left wing and that versatility along with his desire and performances could easily see Blues take up the option in the loan agreement to sign him permanently at the end of the season.

Having scored the 83rd minute winner, he said to press:

‘I can’t say I don’t like it, scoring winning goals, it was fantastic to get the winner against Palace right at the end and I think last night was a big relief for all of us, just to get through the game.

‘We knew it was going to be difficult but we started off really well. We passed the ball and we made them work hard to get hold of it.

‘But we didn’t get a goal and then, for some reason, we got a bit sloppy all over the pitch.

‘We missed a lot of easy passes and we lost possession, which encouraged them.

‘They stayed with two up front and fair play to them for going for it. At times, they did cause us trouble.

‘All the players mainly want to play in one position. I am always happy to do a job for the team if I am asked to, I admit, I am not very used to being in defensive areas like that, so I did find myself in some strange positions.

‘I definitely like playing in midfield, I feel more comfortable there. But I will play wherever the manager asks me to.

‘Of course it makes a bit of a difference when the team changes so much, but it’s not an excuse. We all know each other, we’re all one squad. It doesn’t matter who plays, everbody gives their best.

‘Overall, we came through and we are in the hat for the next round so we’ve got to be pleased at that.’
