Larsson Fumes At Halsey

Never a stranger to controversy, Mark Halsey is in the press again for all the wrong reasons.

Seb Larsson has said that Halsey accused him of faking the altercation with Gary Breen during the lead up to Wolves equilising goal.

Larsson appeared to be fouled by Breen, and went to the ground clutching his head. Blues protestations come from new directives (well not that new) that tell referees any head injuries much lead to the game being stopped for health and safety reasons.

Speaking to the Evening Mail, Larsson said after the match:

‘He (Breen) was a bit annoyed at me from some play just before, so I think he went in to do me.

‘Whether he did or he didn’t, I caught an elbow in the back of my head. I can’t remember exactly what happened, but I saw an arm coming and then that was it.

‘The referee was right there, the linesman was right there. It was poor of them not to do anything. To let the play go on first of all and then, when he came up to me, not to let me get back for the corner as I am the man on the front post, was wrong.

‘I asked him afterwards why didn’t he give anything and why he waved play on when I was still at the halfway line and he said ‘because you were faking an injury’. I couldn’t believe it, I couldn’t understand it. I’ve got a big lump on my head. How could I fake that?

‘I wish I had asked him to feel the back of my head. In any case, if I was faking it, then I should have been booked, and I wasn’t. I just think he was very poor there. He didn’t follow the rules. He should have stopped play and let me get back into my position.

‘I tried to tell the referee after the game that I was unhappy with him, but he wouldn’t talk to me.

‘The result was a big disappointment. We were all over them in the first half with our energy and everything.

‘Second half, we were not as good but we were still creating chances. We just find it difficult to stick that second goal in. For some reason we do things the hard way.’
