Blues’ new on loan striker, Kyle Lafferty, picked up a groin injury on Monday during Northern Ireland’s win against Slovenia.

The 28 year-old, who is on loan from Norwich City, could be side lined for up to six weeks if the injury is as bad as first feared.

The injury will be a professional and personal setback for Lafferty who was looking to impress at his new club ahead of Euro 2016 where he’s expected to lead Northern Ireland’s forward line.

Both Blues boss Gary Rowett and Northern Ireland head coach Michael O’Neill eagerly await results of a scan.

Rowett will be cursing his luck as brining the striker in was seen as a coup with Lafferty offering an extra attacking option.
