King Kenny and Bruce – Round Two

Tonight as Blues travel to Sunderland, everyone’s eyes are on Steve Bruce and Kenny Cunningham.

Cunningham left the club and immediately began criticising everyone and everything in his wake. It was a dream come true for the press but left a bad taste in most fans’ mouths.

Bruce often referred to Cunningham as one of his best ever signings, but the match made in heaven ended in tears following Sullivan’s decision to blame the players for relegation from the Premiership.

In the end both Bruce and the club’s owners were on the wrong end of a verbal bashing from the former fans’ favourite.

And now they all meet again, only two games into the Championship season with Cunningham now plying his trade at Niall Quinn’s Sunderland.

Sunderland will be looking to impress the fans and usher in the Quinn era with some style, whereas Blues will be aiming to take maximum points from the opening two games.

With Jerome out suspended, Debut goal hero Nicklas Bendtner will be looking to start and make his name a regular on the teamsheet.

Speaking to the local press, David Dunn said:

‘I have spoken to him a few times on the phone, so we’ll have to get at him won’t we.

‘I think the things that Kenny said were blown up a little bit and I don’t think he actually meant it the way it came out.

‘He was a great player, but he’s not our player any more. Kenny is a good defender, but we will test him out.’

After already admitting in the press that Blues need to do better following the Colchester game, he continued:

‘Possession changed hands quite a lot. It will do that in the Championship. There were a lot of nervous people out there.

‘We could maybe keep it a little better. We have a lot of good players and the team will grow. However, it was a good three points for us.’
