Luke Turner picks out a key man for tomorrow’s game…

After Saturday’s stalemate with Cardiff City, Blues turn their attention to the first round of the EFL Cup where they host Oxford at St Andrews tomorrow night.

Last seasons League Two runners-up began their League One campaign with a 1-1 draw with Chesterfield and will be looking to cause an upset against Gary Rowett`s side.

The Blues boss will most likely make a few changes to his team and we could see a few youngsters get a chance to shine.

So, my key player for this cup tie is going to be Reece Brown.

He played the last 20 minutes on Saturday, replacing David Cotterill on the right side of midfield. I don’t think that’s his most natural position but he certainly didn’t do himself any harm.

If Rowett starts him in the more centrally tomorrow, then we could see him start to run the show.

He has an excellent first touch and his vision is just as good. I feel that if he can pick the ball up early on, then he can dictate the play.

He may also have the likes of Viv Solomon-Otabor and Jack Storer playing alongside him, so his relationship with them could be very beneficial.

The understanding he has with his fellow youngsters could see them link up very well together and thrive on the opportunity they might be given.

Brown is one of our most technically gifted players and will only improve with first team game time.

This season surely has to be the one where he properly breaks through so, an impressive performance tomorrow night, will only help him along the way.
