Luke Turner picks a key player for this evenings game…

Blues will be looking to bounce back from two successive defeats when they take on Ipswich Town under the lights at St Andrews this evening.

It is a game that Blues will see as their most winnable with their two games after it being against second placed Brighton and play-off contenders Derby County.

If Blues are to get back to winning ways and erase the memory of their last home defeat, then I think that Che Adams will be key to it.

He returned to the starting line up against Newcastle on the weekend and he is the type of player that can get the side going with his tenacious runs and explosive power.

I don’t feel like Clayton Donaldson and Lukas Jutkiewicz work as well when paired together and Adams is an ideal player to play off one of them.

If he can pick up the ball in behind the Ipswich back four and midfield, then he can really begin to make things happen for Blues.

His link up play with the main striker is also something that Blues can build from and begin to get into the dangerous areas with.

Adams also has an eye for goal and he’s the sort of player that can go unnoticed in the box when the eyes are on a big target man like Donaldson or Jutkiewicz.

If Adams can just give us that little spark to get us going right from the outset then I believe he can have a real impact this evening.

It’s crucial that, if we are to stay in and around the play-offs, then we quickly begin to pick up points again because it’s getting all very tight up there and we don’t want to get left behind.
