Birmingham City are waiting to hear from their goalkeeper as to whether he will be staying beyond the end of the season. His latest words on the matter would suggest that he will be giving them positive news come decision time.

“Gary came to me and we are still in talks about it now,”

“I am just playing the football and waiting to speak to him again about the future. I am certainly open to the idea of staying at Birmingham, definitely. I have said that to him as well.

“I feel the last two seasons we have had the same core of players. Everyone gets on, we have got a good team spirit, it`s just fun to come into work every day. We have got a good bunch of lads.”

Positive to hear that Randolph is enjoying the team mates he has at the club. Is that ever enough to keep players? no I do not think so. Lots of players have great working relationships, ultimately friendships end quite quickly.

“I am happy here at the minute and like I said I just want to be part of this team in the direction that it`s going.”

“Everyone enjoys working with him, you have seen what he has done since he has come in.

“He has only been here a few months, imagine how things could be if he has the team for a longer period.

“It can only look up from here. That`s something that excites me.’

Now this is the part of the interview that would make me think he is going to sign on the dotted line for a few more years. Ambition is what keeps people happy.

Randolph can now see the club on the incline and he may want to stay to see how far the club might go. At this point moving would appear to be a bit of a risk, breaking into a new team and hoping they do well.

Here, the team are already doing well and he is already in it.

“At the start of the season there was that long to go until the end and the position we were in it was kind of the last thing on my mind.

“I just wanted to get away from the bottom. Now we are obviously sitting in mid-table and not a million miles off the top six or so. We`ll just keep playing at see where that leaves us at the end of the season.”

Completely understand his position here, why would you commit to a place that was covered in doom and gloom, and we now know under a manager that was very heavy on the emotion inside the dressing room. Stressful to say the least.

I think we may just hold onto Randolph providing a big team don’t come in and offer him a large jump to a different level. The team are improving and he certainly wants to be apart of that upward curve.
