Fahey is well documented as struggling with hip and groin injuries during his time at St. Andrews, and has revealed he opted to pay for his own operation back in Ireland.

‘I had chronic groin problems. I was trying to play through it, not train, and then play again. But there`s obviously only so much of that you can do. Then I broke down.’

KF saw a surgeon two years ago and opted for injections to improve his range of movement in his hips, but this only lead to groin injuries.

“If someone had told me how I was going to end up in two years, I`d have said to get it done. I`ve been playing the last two or three years, possibly longer with this.’

The player is still hoping to look for one more club in England. Due to his increased wages and what Fahey confirmed on twitter, the clubs decision not to keep him was purely financial; meaning fully fit or not Blues would not have kept him this summer.

Fahey was released along side players such as Caldwell, Ibanez and Gomis.
