The club are unlikely to sign another player before the loan window shuts at 5 pm, according to the Birmingham Mail reporter Brian Dick.

We are restricted to one more signing, either on loan or on a free transfer, but it seems that we won’t be bringing anyone else in:

It’s not surprising considering Garry Monk’s comments in his pre-match press conference yesterday, but it is frustrating.

After Cheikh N’Doye’s return to Angers, the manager was very clear that we were light in central midfield, but it looks like we won’t be strengthening in that area.

Of course, we can still sign a player who is out of contract after the window has shut, but Monk has bemoaned the lack of options on the free transfer market.

Currently, it seems that those who are available have wages well out of our price range, or they are not good enough to improve the team.

  • Monk must feel very confident this squad can survive with the likes of Bogle,Mahoney and Camp. We all know things are not right at the club but this inactivity with a place up for grabs to add or strengthen leaves for me,a question as to what plans Monk has for himself.Worth a thought.

  • Do you know what I would rather a small squad together pulling in the right direction than the numbers we had last year and it’s pretty simple why he’s holding back with last signing the 5 signings were aloud to make has to last all season

  • Meanwhile the EFL stand back and let them down the road throw more money about .
Don’t blame him not signing anyone until Jan. Proberley waiting to see who’s fit first out of Davis or vassell

  • Matt completely agree mate if those two are back before or just after Xmas they will be like 2 new players on there own

  • It looks like we will be signing out of contract players now. GM was told that FFP would not be a problem by Ren at the start of preseason training.Firmly believe he will be tapped up with the first managerial vacancy with a decentclub.Who would blame him.

  • If we lose to QPR it could be dejavu to last year except GM would probably quit rather than be sacked like Arry.
He would be justified if he was led down the garden path by Management. The Manager always cops the blame but really only the players can save us by converting every chance and keeping mistakes to a minimum. This is a match we should and MUST win!

  • Things are as they are so let’s get on with it and stop dreaming about signing whoever. Villa have thrown money at it and it has not worked so far. The teams that do well tend to keep a squad together that know each other. Continual change brings disruption to the team and frustration for the players who are left out.
