Josh could be the missing Cog

Josh Cogley may be given his first Championship start against Rotherham United on Tuesday if Jonathan Spector fails a fitness test.

The 20 year-old right back started in the EFL cup defeat against Oxford United in August- his only competitive game to date.

Gary Rowett rejigged his defence at Nottingham Forest on Friday evening with Ryan Shotton moving to right back and Paul Robinson coming in alongside Michael Morrison. That decision arguably backfired as Blues went down 3-1 at the City Ground.

Rowett told the Sunday Mercury- ‘I very nearly started Josh Cogley tonight but I just felt a little bit of experience away from home was needed’.

Cogley has been around the first team picture since impressing during pre-season. But the time to throw him in and establish whether he’s good enough will arrive sooner or later – and could be as early as Tuesday evening.
