Birmingham vice-captain Jonathan Spector is regaining fitness and could return next week according to boss Lee Clark.

Spector hasn`t played since October after suffering a torn thing muscle. He recently completed an hour for the U21 Blues side.

Spector will be coming back to strengthen a weakened Birmingham defence after the injury of Tom Thorpe and the departures of Dan Burn and Kyle Bartley.

The experienced American defender may well come back in at centre back whilst Paul Caddis occupies right back.

Spector is still only 27 and could be an asset to the club if he can put his injury problems behind him. Since joining in 2011 Spector has made 64 league starts for Birmingham.
