‘Blues striker Denny Johnstone has today joined League Two side Cheltenham Town on a Youth Loan basis.’ States the official Birmingham City site.

This means that the loan will last until early May but the Blues do get a chance to recall the striker if needed, after a month. This would be beneficial for both Denny and Birmingham City.

Despite Cheltenham’s low league position, Johnstone has impressed in his short spell there. He has scored once every three games as a statistic and is showing his potential as a finisher.

He has all of the attributes to be a great player in the future and he also has the commitment to match, but he can have occasional blips in form which is common for young players.

However, he does need game time and if this hasn’t happened in the 28 day period, then I would suspect a recall would be best for both parties. We’ll have to wait and see.
