Denny Johnstone may not get his move to Birmingham City after Celtic rejected Blues deal structure. Johnstone has been training with Birmingham and played in a closed doors intra-squad friendly.
Lee Clark wants another striker and is understood to be keen on Denny Johnstone, however Celtic want a sizable development fee for the 19 year old and will be entitled to one from Jonestone`s next club. The matter can be forced to a tribunal but that may produce a financial package Birmingham simply cannot offer.
Blues want to offer a sell on clause instead of paying for the striker, effectively delaying his development fee and paying it when the player is sold on. Celtic have rejected this approach, they may not want to take the chance of waiting a long time for the player to be sold on. They may also not be confident he would be sold on for cash.
Could this prevent the young striker from signing for Birmingham at all?
