Wolves have finally got the signature of Birmingham`s Roger Johnson at the second time of asking.

Johnson was wanted by Wolves boss McCarthy in 2009 but the player opted to come to St Andrews in a £5million deal.

Now Johnson has put pen to paper on a four year deal with Wolves for an undisclosed fee, although it is believed to be somewhere between £6 and £7million.

Mick McCarthy is delighted to have finally signed his man, he said: ‘I saw something in Roger a couple of years ago and thank you for your patience is what he said! Two years is a bit too long to wait really.

‘But we didn’t get him the last time. He was my first choice then and we couldn’t get him.

‘He was the first choice this time and it has worked out for us.’
