Brian McDermott brought hid Leeds side to St Andrews looking for a third win since taking over the Elland Road hot seat, but it didn’t go quite to plan.

The former Reading boss had seen his side boosted by two wins out of two since he took over from Neil Warnock, but that third win was just too far from reach.

Hayden Mullins grabbed the only goal of the game, but after the match McDermott was still satisfied that it was job done for the Yorkshire outfit, any thoughts of relegation were now gone out of the window.

He explained to reporters after the game: ‘When I arrived at the club I put my reputation on the line and to make sure Leeds remained in this division. So far as I am concerned it is job done.

‘Everyone must be going in the same direction. If that occurs in this club you have a major chance.’
