Well, that wasn’t the result we were hoping for. Trust the Blues to pick such a vital game to put in by far the worst performance under Garry Monk.

As you can imagine, fans are now going through all the permutations for how we could survive or be relegated on the final day.

Here is some of the reaction on Twitter:

Verdict:

An important thing to note is that nearly all teams in the relegation fight will be facing teams with something to play for. We face Fulham who still have a chance of automatic promotion.

Reading will be playing Cardiff who have the same ambition. Barnsley and Burton meanwhile will be playing Derby and Preston respectively, who are fighting it over the last playoff place.

Bolton are the only team playing a team with nothing to play for in Nottingham Forest. Wanderers will have to win by a massive margin to really have any chance of finishing above us though.

  • This is not life and death, only a game of football. I believe playing at our maximum we will get a draw. I cannot see Burton beating Derby but Bolton will probably win 2-0. KRO

    • If we stop up, which I believe we just might, it will be thanks to either Derby or Forest, NOT ourselves!!
Let’s be honest and admit the current bunch of players are clearly sub standard as our performances over the last 45 games has shown. No amount of trying to believe differently will be non other than fantasy.

    • Believe we will get a draw against a Fulham team that hasn’t been beaten all year .Have you seen this blues team play this season at all..4 good performances all year.

  • One thing you are all forgetting here. Both Burton have to win at Preston and Barnsley have to win at Derby. They are 6th and 7th respectively and are both going for the last play of place so neither of them will be taking it easy.

  • Have watched Fulham a number of times and they are not brilliant.Yes they have two great full backs, midfielders ok and Mitrovic up front. Blues on their day with attacking intent can win or at least get a draw.Key area for me is midfield where Davis,Gardner,Keifenbeld must play.Leave Ndoye out.Grounds also in for Harding. This is a one off game so Monk has to get it right massively if he wants to succeed as a Blues manager next season.

    • Blues on their day with attacking intent can win or at least get a draw.A couple of things here , you think Blues on their day can beat a team that no other team on their day has done in 2018 ? A team that has powered up from 10th in the league to fighting for automatic promotion in 12 weeks. Also when have this blues team turned up and had their day all season ? they couldn’t even turn up in a derby match but you think they will turn up here? Survival is going to happen just based on other teams results nothing else. Also Blues with a “attacking intent” ..attack has been non existent for most of the season even under monk its been huff and puff lacking any real threat.

  • We are all jittery this week with permutations flying all over the place. My concern however centres around Bolton who could win by two goals leaving us with no room but to limit Fulham to a one goal win at maximum.Burton I feel will beat Preston whereas Barnsley to get a draw at best against Derby. As regards us,I feel certain GM will bring back Dean in place of the hapless Roberts with Grounds also.
