It’s Caddis you know…

Luke Turner sings the praises of our Scottish full back…

When Ryan Shotton was brought in on loan by Gary Rowett, it seemed that the right back position held by Paul Caddis was under threat.

Rowett only left it a few games before replacing Caddis with Shotton after a couple of defensive frailties began to show with the Scot.

But, Shotton`s spell in the team was brief as it was clear that Blues missed the attacking threat of Caddis and his energy down that right hand side.

Blues fans made their thoughts clear when chanting Caddis` name away at QPR where Shotton was at fault for both of The R’s goals.

Caddis is now back in the team, performing at his best and has even been rewarded with a call up the the Scotland national team for their upcoming friendlies.

Personally, I think that he is one of, if not, the best attacking right back in the league. The way he runs up from the halfway line with the ball glued to his foot gets everyone off their seats knowing that he can produce something.

His attacks are full of intent and he perhaps deserves to have more assists to his name than his solitary one so far this season.

It is not only his attacking play that has impressed me recently. He has improved a lot on his defensive work and is being clever when defending against a winger.

I think we all love the way he is calm under pressure and can all have a laugh when he wins cheap free kicks or wastes time.

Something that has helped him along here at Blues is the near legendary status he now holds after his last gasp goal at Bolton to keep us in the league.

His display on Saturday against Fulham was excellent and he was a constant menace down the right hand side all game.

Caddis thoroughly deserves his international call up and he, alongside Stephen Gleeson and Michael Morrison, is the most underrated and important players in our team.

We are clearly a better side with Caddis in the team and hopefully he can continue his good form as we enter the crucial last month or so of the season.
