It Has Been Such A Long Time Coming For Birmingham City

|

Mitchell Bray says:

It has been a long time coming but our twin strikers are leading the Championship so far with a combined 19 goals.

Marginally ahead of Albion’s Gayle and Barnes we are currently top with Jukey and Adams.

Question is whether this can continue, with a second half of the season yet to come. Providing they steer clear of injury then the ceiling could be very high.

Power and pure determination has been the key to this pair and every supporter has been well and truly impressed and proud. Strikers in pairs have always been a tantalising prospect and in truth are rare, with most fans having to scratch their heads as to who were the last double act to get them excited. Some fans can remember Latchford and Francis or Kenny Burns and Francis being a potent pair.

In recent years we have had many individual strikers such as Phillips and Forsell who have reached the goal heights but not in pairs. This could be mainly due to managers playing only one up front-hard to succeed and even harder to watch. This time around we have a manager who thinks no other way but to have two strikers in combo. Should Vassell enter the fray come the new year then the mix becomes that more tasty.

Goals have now become a regular commodity with this group of players-albeit not so much from our midfielders, but the pleasure that Jukey and Adams have so far given to the fans will set the tempo for the second half of the season. Maghoma, Jota and Vassell will want their quota of the limelight which will ensure this Xmas period will have us dreaming of what good times are to come as opposed to recent seasons of dreaded anticipation.
