On the first day of July, Birmingham City boss Gary Rowett took his squad out onto the grass pitches at Wast Hills for the first time since returning to preseason training and after speaking to the media, one quotation stood out to many, ourselves included.

‘What tends to happen with the Euros, it all gets delayed a little bit.’ Do enlighten us Gary, what might you be talking about? A potential transfer target that is still at the European Championships?

To our knowledge, the only player that has been linked with Blues in the last could of weeks that is still at the Euros is free agent Hal Robson-Kanu. We brought you the exclusive last month that HRK was a player who Rowett was very interested in and if something could be done then the club would be willing to pull out all of the stops to bring him in.

The former Reading star didn’t sign a new contract with the Royals at the end of the season and his is now officially a free agent so the next question that needs answering is, where will he be playing his football next season?

Well, the scorer of a sublime goal in last nights 3-1 win over Belgium is rumoured to be interesting several Premier League clubs with the likes of Watford and Swansea City interested in him but you have to ask yourself, would he really get the game time he wants at either of those clubs?

For me, I personally don’t think he would and I think the only reason he is being linked with a move to Swansea is being he is Welsh and he is having a blinding tournament at the moment. I don’t think there is anything concrete there, and the same applies for the Hornets supposed interest in the forward.

The Blues boss has highlighted so many times since the season has started that Clayton Donaldson needs help up front and he needs some healthy competition and I believe that the 27-year-old forward could be the man to shine a light on our season this year.

Although Birmingham City have been linked with the likes of Tom Bradshaw and James Wilson, both of which would be fantastic options for us, I just think that Robson-Kanu would offer us more because I think we would be able to push him out wide as well if we needed to.

Blues fans, how pleased would you be if the club managed to bring in Hal Robson-Kanu? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below!
