Birmingham City could return to action with a near to fully fit squad next Saturday when the league re-stars after a two week break due to International football. In the previous month Birmingham City have missed Neal Eardley after he injured himself in the 2-0 home loss to Sheffield Wednesday and Lee Novak has been out of action for over a month too, after a knee injury in training that has failed to recover.

However encouragingly both have been back in training this last week and manager Lee Clark hopes both will feature in a arranged behind closed doors friendly match against Notts County at the Wast Hills training complex. If all goes to plan Blues only long term injury absentees will be Jonathan Spector who is expected out for up to at least twelve weeks due to a torn thigh and Matt Green.

Lee Clark told the Birmingham Mail; “The good thing with the international break is that it gives us a little time to work with the lads and hopefully get more players available when we play again, Neal Eardley and Lee Novak joined in training earlier in the week.”

Welsh International Neal Eardley has not had the best luck with injuries since joining Birmingham on a free transfer in the summer of 2013. The 25 year old features in Blues first seven games in league and cup in the 2013/14 season but a horrific injury rupturing his medial ligament and a partially tearing his anterior cruciate ligaments kept him out for the season and already this year he has been hampered with various niggles.

Lee Novak who scored eleven goals in all competitions for Birmingham last season is seen as an integral part of Lee Clark`s side and his versatility to play upfront or on the wing makes him a very important player for Blues and his absence through injury has hurt. The Newcastle born forward has played fourty three times for Blues in the league over the past season and his hard working ethos is set to give Blues a big boost when they return to action in eight days` time.
