Following yesterday’s clash between Birmingham City and Huddersfield Town, here are the instant reactions from both managers.

Birmingham City hosted Huddersfield Town at St Andrew’s Stadium for a 7.45pm kick off on Tuesday February 6 for the FA Cup Fourth Round replay, with the visitors taking a four one victory.

Birmingham opened the scoring in the 52nd minute through Che Adams, but a Marc Roberts’ own goal saw both sides head into extra time.

The Premier League side took full advantage at that stage with goals from Steve Mounie, Rajiv van La Paara and Tom Ince.

Teams:

Birmingham:

Stockdale, Dean, Roberts, Morrison, Jenkinson (Dacres-Cogley 71), Lowe (Lakin 101), Gardner, Ndoye (45), Bramall, Jutkiewicz (Boga 86), Adams.

Substitutes:

Colin, Trueman, Seddon.

Huddersfield:

Lossl, Smith (Hadergjonaj 45), Kongolo, Jorgensen, Malone (Lowe 95), Sabiri (van La Parra 56), Billing, Mooy, Ince, Quaner (Scannell 99), Mounie.

Substitutes:

Whitehead, Coleman, Hefele.

Speaking to the BBC’s cameras a short time after match day referee Paul Tierney blew the final whistle, Birmingham City manager Steve Cotterill explained.

‘For 90 minutes, we did well and kept it tight to half-time. We then opened up, had a different set-up in midfield and got the goal. But, after that, we were hanging on in there and it was always going to be tough for us in extra time. They were too much for us. We were dead on our feet in the end. We’ve had an unbelievable schedule. We’ve played 11 games since 23 December.’

Huddersfield Town head coach Davis Wagner in his comparative interview explained.

‘I was so pleased with the way we played, I actually enjoyed having to play an extra half an hour. I’ve praised the togetherness and character of this dressing room so many times and they showed it tonight. It could have easily gone differently after they scored the first goal, but they reacted in the right way. Tuesday night against a Championship side under floodlights is never going to be easy, but we played some decent football all over the park. And we’re very happy to be playing Manchester United at home again, in the fifth round of the FA Cup. The whole town will be happy about that.’

  • 13 shots to blues 4 , back to 2 attackers . We were out shot and couldn’t hit back because we didn’t have a full attacking force , this was back to the playground stuff our defence was run ragged ….stick to 4-3-3 blues with enough attacking players ….we can concentrate fully on the league now , but hey SUPER BLUES ,not last night ..and it’s no good moaning about being knackered when we are pushing to hard in training ….the second half of the season is the time to relax those hard muscles a bit ..sometimes you have to attack none stop with the opposition ,…and last night 4 shots on target wasn’t nowhere near enough with 2 goal minded attackers …..
