Blues boss Alex McLeish has confirmed that Sebastian Larsson should recover from a ligament injury in time to face arch rivals Aston Villa on Sunday.

Larsson was a major doubt after hobbling off during the Everton match last week.

But a scan has revealed only a minor tweak, and the former Scotland manager told the Birmingham Mail that he expected the midfielder to play:

‘We’re hoping that the extra day, with the game being on Sunday, will help him,’ he said.

‘He’s probably our main concern because he did tweak his medial ligament and I know from personal experience that sometimes after the game you feel okay then two or three days later you are still sore with it.

‘If he’s got a bit of pain, but it’s not restricting him, he will be all right.’
