Garry Monk has confirmed that Isaac Vassell is close to returning to full fitness, but he won’t be available for the first team until after the international break.
Speaking yesterday, the manager says the club are easing the striker back into things after his ten-month absence due to a serious knee injury. He confirmed the timescale for the player’s return:
“He’ll need two weeks to be filtered back into training. Then he’ll need another two to three weeks. So it will be after the international break before he’s even close. He’ll also need some minutes in the U23s to build his match fitness up.”
Fans on Twitter are keenly anticipating the 24-year-old making his comeback:

We need him we lack goals and he can score

Never mind goals, it’d be nice to see an attacker with a genuine threat! I just hope he comes back the same player. I remember the game against the villa when he got injured. Had he stayed on I’m certain we would have won that game.

Be like a new signing.
Just hope his knee holds out..not just for us but more so himself and his mindset.
Good job he’s a focused young lad.
Fingers crossed and can’t wait to have him back out there.

Blues Boss Garry Monk has announced that striker Isaac Vassell has now finished his rehabilitation and isn’t far from coming back from injury. Can’t wait to get him back on the pitch. Feel like we really missed him last season #BCFC

Vassell will definitely offer something different in attack when he’s back fit. He was one of the few signings that Harry Redknapp and the recruitment team got right last summer, and it was a massive setback when he sustained his injury.
You can’t expect him to return to action at his best level right away, but with him back in the fold, the manager will have four different striking options available to him. That will hopefully enable us to improve our goal threat, especially away from home.
