Huws Not Coming Back

Emyr Huws, former Blues loanee, has joined Wigan Athletic on a six month loan deal.

The 19 year old did well at Birmingham whilst on loan, even scoring the clubs goal of the season. Huws also managed to break into his national side whilst on loan at Birmingham. The Welshman made 17 starts for the Blues, scoring goals against Middlesbrough and Burnley.

Whilst Huws is a good player he still has an absolutely massive task of raising his profile and his skills enough to be able to challenge at Manchester City. A task that has proven too difficult for many players.

It is not surprising that Huws has been sent back out on loan to a club with higher ambitions that Blues. I`m not so sure Birmingham would need a player for that position this season.

If Huws would have returned to Blues it is possible he would be competing with either Adeyemi; Reilly and Reece Brown for the physical central midfield role. It could be more beneficial to Blues to blood their own youngsters this season in the form of Brown playing rather than having a Manchester City youngster here.

I have a brief chat with Colin Tattum on Twitter yesterday to ask the Blues Journo if he thought the likes of Brown and Gray could reach the heights that Redmond and Mutch reached. He said they certainly have the potential too, so I think we should be playing them.
