Birmingham manager Chris Hughton was left feeling over the moon after watching his side take apart Millwall at the Den on Saturday.

Blues were helped by Millwall losing two players to red cards, but a win is a win and this one ended a run of seven away games without one.

Curtis Davies gave Blues the lead in the 18th minute and then the home side made it difficult for themselves when Shane Lowry was shown a red card for a stamp on Nilola Zigic.

Then as the clock reached the hour mark Alan Dunne was also shown a straight red after he lunged at Zigic.

Marlon King soon added Birmingham`s second goal of the game and then Chris Burke, Adam Rooney, Nathan Redmond and a second from King in the last 16 minutes left Millwall wondering what had hit them.

Hughton said after the game: ‘After having not started the game too well, we probably went in front against the run of play but we were then able to capitalise on the circumstances and the space we were afforded.

‘You have still got to put the ball in the back of the net though and that is something that we have found a little bit more difficult away from home, so certainly it is a good feeling to get the goals.

‘You are up against initially 10 men with a crowd that is going to push their team on and contest every decision so it is never easy but of course it is easier when 10 becomes nine.

‘But as I say you have still got to break a team down, get into the spaces and take your chances – we were clinical enough which was great.’
