Birmingham boss Chris Hughton had no complaints after his side were beaten 3-1 at home in the opening Europa League game against Braga.
It was always going to be a tough task for Blues with their much changed side and up against the team that finishe runners up in the competition last season.
But it was a hard to swallow first goal that sent the visitors on their way coming less than two minutes after Rooney had missed a sitter for City.
Braga added a second on the hour and although Marlon King pulled a goal back, Barbosa finished a counter-attacking move late on to seal the win.
‘I’ve no arguments with the result,’ said Hughton.
‘What we saw in Braga was a team who once they got into the forward areas and close to goal, they were more clinical and showed better quality than we did.
‘At 2-1 we were the team in the ascendancy, and if anybody was going to get the next goal, then it was possibly going to be us.
‘But when you are playing against a side of the quality of Braga that have the experience they do, there is always the possibility of getting caught on the counter-attack, and that is what happened.’
