Birmingham manager Chris Hughton had to admit that he felt relieved when Blues came up with a stoppage time winner in the game against Burnley last night.

Chris Burke hit the all important last goal in the 2-1 win which drew the Blues closer to their rivals for promotion.

Jean Beausejour hit the first goal for City within two minutes and it really should have been a game made more comfortable for them but Marlon King managed to somehow miss a chance that someone who was blindfolded could have scored.

And early in the second half it looked like Birmingham were going to be made to pay for that miss when Marvin Bartley netted for the visitors to make it 2-1.

But Burke saved the day for City and Hughton told reporters: ‘We left it very late but the plus to take from it is the fact there is a lot of spirit in the camp and they are a determined group of players.

‘We certainly didn’t make life as easy for ourselves as we should have done but I was very happy with some of our offensive play. We just need to make sure we start working the opposition goalkeeper more than we are doing at the moment.’
