David Edgar has joined Huddersfield Town on loan until the end of the season, the 27 year old was in desperate need of first team football.

The player cannot play against Blues on Saturday 14 March but will play a fair few teams around Blues’ own league position whilst at Huddersfield.

At this stage in his career it is not in the least bit surprising to see the Canadian international go out somewhere to play games.

Blues could have sold him for a fair bit of money, he’s a decent player that Clark did very well in capturing. With that said, I don’t think he is finished in terms of his Birmingham career.

With Edgar playing Championship football it will allow Birmingham to have another look at him when he comes back.

A recent interview with Rowett has revealed that Edgar was not being considered as a defender within the team. So there is n o less cover at centre back.

The Canadian wants to play a holding midfield role so that explains why he has actually been allowed to go to Huddersfield who want a midfielder.

In terms of what is going to happen at Blues, there probably won’t be another defender coming in unless there is an injury to one of the players already there.

This loan then has been explained as, we aren’t losing a defender as Edgar wants to play in midfield and it is Rowett trimming down the squad further.
