Oxford United have signed Brian Howard on a four month deal after his release from Birmingham.

Howard was moved on after Birmingham’s dramatic last minute survival in the Championship and never really established himself in the Blues side.

The Winchester born midfielder played just five times for Birmingham since singing on in January.

He will not be hoping to get some first team football under his belt at the tender age of 31. It has been nearly five seasons that Howard has spent on the fringes on which ever team he has been at.

Those clubs include Birmingham, Bristol City, Portsmouth and Millwall. His most notable career moment was perhaps scoring the winner at Anfield for Barnsley in the FA Cup.
