Nottingham Forest’s 3-0 win over Barnsley last night has really lifted the pressure on us going into the weekend. A five-point gap with two games to go is a fantastic position to be in, and full credit must go to Garry Monk.
I don’t think it is wise to rest on our laurels just yet, but we are so near to achieving safety now, and it’s a great feeling.
Here is some of the reaction from supporters on Twitter to the result yesterday:
Not so long ago Barnsley were singing going down to us oh well how the tables turned #bcfc https://t.co/QFsliRBmNd

If Burton & Barnsley don't win on Saturday, we're safe 👊🏻
Even if we fail to pick up another point.#magicMonk #bcfc— Rich (@Richzico10) April 25, 2018
Have to go for the win against QPR in case Barnsley pull off a miracle. A point is pointless.. Need to assume we'll lose against Fulham.. #bcfc

Barnsley failed to capitalise on their game in hand leaving Blues five points clear of danger with two games to go. We could be safe this weekend, will we even know what to do for the last game of the season though then?#BCFC #KRO #Blues #coybb

Pressure off a bit now Barnsley lost, relegation battle isn’t over yet though 👀 #BCFC

@BCFC Forest result is HUGE! We need 2 points for safety. Or if either Bolton or Barnsley lose either of their next 2, we’re golden! (allowing GD for Bolton)
Would love to take all 3 at QPR though and smash it ourselves!
KEEP. RIGHT. ON! #BCFC— Craig Bevan (@MrCraigBevan) April 24, 2018
Buzzing Forest did us a favour. If Barnsley lose the weekend. And with Burton v Bolton. Results could go our way with enough to stay up #bcfc

Verdict:
I just want to make it mathematically impossible to go down now. A draw could be enough against QPR, but that is not the mentality that we have under the current manager.
We will go to Loftus Road playing on the front foot, trying to grab that win that will guarantee safety. Rangers haven’t been in the best of form lately. They have lost their last two games, and over the past month, they have been beaten by Reading, Hull, Preston and Brentford.
They have had two convincing home wins against Norwich and Sheffield Wednesday which we should be mindful of, but they are shipping goals for fun, and it should allow us to create a few opportunities on Saturday.
