Blues boss Chris Hughton declared himself to be very proud of his side after watching them beat Nacional in the Europa Cup competition to reach the group stage.

St Andrews was packed with fans wanting to see the return of European Football to the club, something which they had been starved of for near on 50 years

And starring role in a team full of heroes went to 17 year old Nathan Redmond who got the breakthrough to set Blues on their way before David Murphy`s header made it two and the game was then put beyond the Portuguese side`s reach with a third from
Chris Wood.

Hughton said: ‘I’m extremely proud. We knew it was going to be a very tough game.

‘It was similar to the first leg where Nacional started very well. We took a little while to get into the game but once we did, I thought we were very good value for the win.’
